Understanding history helps us reconcile our past and shape our future. It strengthens our democracy and grows our empathy toward one another.

America’s students deserve nothing less.

The Social Studies Accelerator works at the heart of the movement to ensure students have access to interdisciplinary social studies education that represents who we all are and how we collectively shape our communities and our society.

Our goal is to increase connectivity across the PK-12 social studies ecosystem by bringing together and supporting curriculum developers, professional-development providers, educators, and school-system leaders alongside key partners in the education field to ensure that all our nation’s young people receive a social studies education that is:

High-Quality · Culturally Responsive · Inquiry-Based · Diverse · Inclusive · Relevant · Sustaining

The System Leader Learning Lab (SL3) is a fully funded professional learning and community-building experience for K-12 curriculum leads who shape district or system-level decisions for social studies, history, civics, and related subjects.

This year’s cohort is made up of dedicated leaders from across the country who are strengthening academic programs and advancing culturally responsive social studies education in their communities. SL3 blends leadership development with content-focused professional learning to support the design and implementation of high-quality, equity-driven curriculum across systems supporting 5,000 students or more.
